Marty has been involved in the oil and gas business for over 30 years and was a founding shareholder in Ballistic Energy Corporation, Real Resources Inc, Stoneham Drilling Trust, Herc Oil Corp and several other oil and gas business entities. He was a partner with Blake, Cassels and Graydon, specializing in oil and gas law, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, financings and new venture start ups.
Marty obtained his undergraduate degree through the Regular Officers Training Plan, and served as a Royal Canadian Air Force fighter pilot in Europe. After nine years of military service, he obtained his law degree from the University of Alberta in 1981.
