TOM Activities

At TOM Capital, we treat fun as more than a needed break from work – it is an important part of life, which should permeate into work. While we are still very interested in achieving good results, we want to be, and work with, people who are good at what they do and also truly enjoy life. We have chosen to add this section to our website because it illustrates another difference between TOM Capital and other venture capital/private equity firms. Fostering relationships is important to us – both our relationships with our investees as well as the relationships between the staff members at our office. We like the energy of our workplace. This energy is the basis of innovation, sparks ideas, fuels passion, and gets results. Our philosophy is that fun builds trust, communication, and a resistance to taking things too seriously. One of TOM’s most popular inter office activities is a company sponsored workout. Three times a week a personal trainer attends at the TOM office to whip the team into shape, participation optional of course. Sometimes the team even gears up for a health challenge – one challenge we drank dark green juice every day for a month!

TOM Cruise

Since its inception in 2003, the TOM Cruise has frequented the Gulf Islands of British Columbia and the San Juan Islands of the United States. Another TOM Cruise involved a cruise ship trip to Nassau, Bahamas and a race of the America’s Cup yachts with TOM personnel participating as crew members.

TOM Tour

On several occasions, the TOM Tour was arranged to coincide with a visit to the Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta National. The President’s Cup International Golf Competition has also been a popular event for TOM. First at the Royal Montreal Golf Club – Blue Course in 2007, then at Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco in 2009, and, most recently, the TOM Tour descended upon Columbus, OH, the birth place of Jack Nicklaus, to attend the President’s Cup, this time held at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
